Patient Navigation Program for Cancer Clinical Trial Enrollment
This study is testing if different levels of patient navigation can help more people with prostate cancer or kidney cancer join clinical trials. Patient navigation involves a navigator helping you overcome barriers to healthcare. There are two approaches being compared: a 'high intensity' approach which includes a Patient Education Material (PEM), cancer center support services, and community resources, reviewed with a patient navigator before your doctor's appointment. The 'low intensity' approach also includes PEM and community resources, reviewed with a navigator, but also includes a follow-up call four weeks later. The main goal is to see if the high intensity program leads to more patients enrolling in clinical trials over 18 months. You may be able to join if you are at least 18 years old, have prostate or kidney cancer, are seen at Johns Hopkins or Wellspan Health Center, and have a suitable clinical trial available.
