MIND Foods and Aerobic Training for Black Adults with High Blood Pressure
This study is looking at how a special diet and exercise might help thinking and memory skills in Black adults with high blood pressure (hypertension). Researchers are comparing two approaches: "Enhanced Usual Care (EUC)" which includes 5 weeks of hypertension classes, and "Food Delivery and Cooking PLUS Aerobic Training (FoRKS+)" which adds home-delivered Mediterranean-style food kits, cooking classes, and aerobic exercise after the hypertension classes. They want to see if FoRKS+ improves cognitive function (thinking and memory) more than EUC. You might be able to join if you are a Black adult, aged 35-75, live in Marion County, and have high blood pressure. The study plans to enroll 128 people.

The cognitive composite is derived from WAIS-IV Symbol Search \& Coding, Trail Making Test Part B, Animals-Vegetables-Clothing Naming, Stroop Color-Word, and RBANS Update List Learning and List Recall. The composite will be formed by standardizing each test raw score to the sample baseline mean and standard deviation and then taking an average of the resultant z-scores. These measures will be combined into a single, overall cognitive composite score.
