Socialization and Sexuality Education for Young People with I/DD

This study is testing two different 6-week health education programs, called STEPS2 and STYH, for young people aged 16-27 with mild to moderate intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), including those with Down syndrome. The goal is to see if these programs help participants have conversations with medical professionals about sexual health, know their HPV vaccination status, and get the HPV vaccine. The study is looking for 856 participants who live in New York State and can complete the program in English. We want to understand if these programs can improve knowledge and behaviors related to sexual health. The study is currently recruiting participants.

Study design
This study is an interventional study, meaning participants will receive one of two health education programs. About 856 participants will be randomly assigned to either the STEPS2 or STYH program.
What's involved
You would complete an interview survey (up to 45 minutes) and then participate in one-hour weekly virtual video call sessions for 6 weeks.

able to complete curriculum in English
