Naloxone for Opioid-Associated Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest

This study is investigating if naloxone (a medication that reverses opioid effects) can help people who have a cardiac arrest (when the heart stops beating) outside of a hospital due to an opioid overdose. Participants will receive either naloxone 2mg or a saline placebo (an inactive substance) through an IV or IO (into the bone) route, shortly after receiving epinephrine. The main goal is to see if naloxone improves survival until hospital discharge, which is typically up to 5 days. You might be eligible if you are an adult (18 years or older) experiencing cardiac arrest outside the hospital, have already received initial resuscitation efforts including epinephrine, and are suspected of having an opioid-related cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest apparently caused by trauma, choking, or drowning.
Known or apparent pregnancy
Patient experiences ROSC prior to study drug administration
