VR-PAT and fNIRS for Pain in Pediatric Burn Patients

This study is looking at how virtual reality (VR) can help reduce pain in children and teenagers (ages 6-17) who are being treated for burn injuries. Researchers will use a special brain imaging technique called functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to measure brain activity during painful burn dressing changes and while patients use Virtual Reality Pain Alleviation Therapy (VR-PAT). The goal is to find specific brain signals (biomarkers) that show how much pain someone is feeling and how well VR-PAT is working to relieve that pain. This information could help improve pain management for burn patients in the future. The study is currently recruiting a small number of participants.
