Understanding Obesity and Brain Activity with Protein Intake

This study is looking at how a family history of obesity might affect how your brain responds to protein and how much food you eat. Researchers want to see if there's a link between having a parent who had obesity and how well protein helps you feel full. You might be eligible if you are between 18 and 35 years old, have a BMI (Body Mass Index) between 20-40, and your weight has been stable for at least three months. You also can't have certain psychiatric or neurological conditions. Participants will consume either Ensure (a liquid meal with protein) or water before eating pizza. The main goals are to measure how much pizza is eaten and to look at brain activity in specific areas (medial and lateral prefrontal cortex) using a special brain imaging technique. The study's current status is unclear.

Study design
This is an interventional study planning to enroll 80 participants. It will compare how different pre-meal drinks (Ensure or water) affect food intake and brain activity.
What's involved
Participants will consume either Ensure or water before eating pizza. Brain activity will be measured at 20 minutes, and pizza consumption will be measured between 3-15 minutes.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
The primary endpoints are measured at 3-15 minutes for pizza consumption and at 20 minutes for brain activity.
