Study on Sex Differences in Orthostatic Intolerance During Simulated Lunar Gravity

This study, called Lunar OI, is looking at how men and women respond differently to changes in gravity, similar to what astronauts experience during lunar missions. Researchers want to see if there are differences in how well men and women tolerate standing up (orthostatic intolerance) and how their heart and blood vessels react. You might receive a potassium supplement to prevent low potassium levels, and furosemide (Lasix), a medication given through an IV to help you urinate and reduce your blood volume. You'll also wear a custom-designed compression garment. The study aims to see how these interventions affect your ability to tolerate tilting and the stress on your cardiovascular system. We'll measure your blood plasma volume, how long you can tolerate tilting, and your heart rate. This study is for healthy individuals aged 25 to 55 years old. Currently taking drugs or medications known to adversely interact with furosemide, including but not limited to aspirin, NSAIDs, antibiotics, or immunosuppressant drugs
Systemic diseases or current medications known to influence the cardiovascular system
Renal disease
