Embo Registry: Artery Embolization for Chronic Pain

This study, called Embo Registry, is looking at how well a procedure called Artery Embolization works for people with chronic pain, especially those with osteoarthritis in their knee, thumb, or shoulder, or other localized pain. Artery Embolization is an outpatient procedure where a doctor inserts a small tube (catheter) into the artery supplying the painful area. Tiny particles are then injected to reduce blood flow and inflammation, which can help decrease pain. This study wants to see if this procedure reduces pain, decreases the need for pain medication, and improves your quality of life. You can join if you are over 18 and have already had Artery Embolization for chronic pain due to osteoarthritis or other localized pain. The study will measure success by looking at changes in your pain levels and quality of life after the procedure. The current recruitment status for this study is unclear.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

\> 18 years of age undergone artery embolization interventions for the treatment of chronic pain due to osteoarthritis or other diagnoses that cause localized pain.

What this trial measures

  • Primary Outcome3 months

    Clinical success at 3 months, defined as improvement in Western Ontario and McMaster University (WOMAC) Pain Subscale from pre-operative/baseline WOMAC scores.

  • Primary Outcome3 months

    Clinical success at 3 months, defined as improvement of Visual Analog Scale (VAS) Scores from pre-operative/baseline scores.

  • Primary Outcome3 months

    Comparative assessment at 3 months of decreased use of medication prescribed at baseline to 3 months post operatively.

  • Primary Outcome3 months

    Clinical success at 3 months, as defined by improvement in the quality of life using the EQ-5D-5L Quality of Life Questionnaire compared to baseline.
