Massage for Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

This study is looking at how Swedish massage therapy and light touch therapy affect brain activity and anxiety symptoms in people with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). Researchers want to see if these touch therapies can change brain networks and improve feelings of anxiety, stress, and depression. You could be eligible if you are 18 to 64 years old, have a GAD diagnosis, and meet certain anxiety symptom levels. The study will compare brain scans (fMRI) and symptom questionnaires before and after 6 weeks of treatment to understand how these therapies work. This research aims to find out if massage could be a helpful approach for managing anxiety.

Study design
This is a randomized study with two groups, involving 46 participants. You would have an equal chance of receiving either Swedish massage therapy or light touch therapy.
