This study is testing a new, low-cost device called a pleural gas analyzer. This device attaches to a chest drain (a tube placed in your chest after surgery) to detect air leaks from your lung. It works by measuring gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2) to see if breath is escaping. The goal is to see if this new device can accurately find air leaks, which are common after chest surgery and can lead to a collapsed lung (pneumothorax). We are looking for 33 patients who are having chest surgery and are expected to have a chest tube placed. The study will compare the accuracy of this new device to standard methods of detecting air leaks.
