Study on Nicotine Pouch Characteristics and Perceptions
This study is looking at how different features of nicotine pouches, like nicotine strength and pH level, affect how people perceive and use them. You might be able to join if you are between 21 and 35 years old, currently use nicotine pouches (and may also use e-cigarettes or regular cigarettes), and are not planning to quit nicotine. You'll need to pass a cotinine test (a test for nicotine in your saliva). The study aims to understand what makes nicotine pouches appealing and how people experience them. There are 72 participants planned for this study.
- Study design
- This is a single-visit, double-blind (meaning neither you nor the researchers will know which pouch you're using) randomized study involving 72 participants.
- What's involved
- You will attend an orientation session, then a single 4-hour experimental session where you will self-administer four different nicotine pouches. You'll need to avoid nicotine for 8 hours before the experimental session.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- Your perceptions and sensory experiences will be measured during the 3-hour experimental session while you use the pouches.

What this trial measures
- Subjective Appeal and sensory experienceDuring the 3-hour experimental session, participant will self-administer 4 nicotine pouches, each with a 5-minute administration period. There will a 40-minute inter-product rest interval.
Self-report measures of product appeal (e.g., liking, disliking, willingness to use again) and sensory attributes (e.g., sweetness, smoothness, bitterness, harshness) will be completed following the nicotine pouch administration.
