Optimizing Thyroid Hormone Deprescribing for Older Adults
This study is testing a new approach called D-THIO (Deprescribing Thyroid Hormone In Older Adults) to help older adults (age 65 and older) who are taking too much thyroid hormone medication. D-THIO involves sending advice to doctors and educational brochures to patients. We are comparing D-THIO to standard care, which includes guidelines from the American Thyroid Association. The main goal is to see if D-THIO helps doctors reduce or stop thyroid hormone medication for their patients. You might be able to join if you are 65 or older, taking thyroid hormone, and your TSH (Thyroid-stimulating hormone) level is low or you are taking the medication for a reason that may not be appropriate. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status.
