Optimal Dosing of Locomotor Training for Stroke Recovery

This study is looking for stroke patients (ages 18-95) currently undergoing inpatient rehabilitation to understand the best way to use high-intensity gait training (walking practice) to improve movement. You would be randomly assigned to one of three groups: a moderate-intensity locomotor training program, a high-intensity locomotor training program, or a high-step count locomotor training program. Researchers will measure your balance (Berg Balance Scale), walking speed (Ten Meter Walk Test), and walking distance (Six Minute Walk Test) at the end of your rehabilitation stay (around day 13-14) to see which approach is most effective. The study aims to enroll 20 participants and its current status is unclear.

Weightbearing restrictions, uncontrolled cardiopulmonary, metabolic, infectious, or psychiatric disorders, which would preclude aerobic locomotor training
Estimated length of stay of less than 14 days
