Peer Recovery Support Services for Opioid Use Disorder

This study is looking at a behavioral intervention called Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS) to help people with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) start Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). MOUD, like methadone and buprenorphine, are important treatments, but many people don't start them. This study will involve 35 participants who are currently in inpatient substance abuse treatment. The goal is to see if PRSS can help more people start MOUD before they leave inpatient care. You can join if you are 18 or older, have OUD, are in inpatient treatment at Maryland Treatment Centers, speak English, and can get MOUD through your insurance. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

Age 18+ (inclusive)
Meets diagnostic criteria for OUD
Currently seeking inpatient treatment at Maryland Treatment Centers program
English speaking
Willing and able to provide informed consent
Able to obtain MOUD through insurance.

Exclusion

Having been prescribed and taken a maintenance dose of sublingual buprenorphine or methadone within 14 days of entering the current inpatient treatment episode
received a dose of XR-buprenorphine or XR-naltrexone within 45 days of entering the current inpatient treatment episode.
