ReadMap: Understanding Reading After Stroke and in Aging
This study, called ReadMap, aims to better understand how the brain processes reading in people who have lost reading ability due to a stroke (alexia) and in typical older adults. Alexia can make everyday tasks like reading emails or signs very difficult. Researchers will conduct behavioral tests and brain imaging (MRI) to learn more about the brain and thinking processes involved in reading. You might be able to join if you are at least 18 years old and learned English by age 8. Stroke survivors who meet these criteria are welcome, as are healthy adults. The study will measure brain activity using MP-RAGE and DTI scans, and assess reading, speech, language, and thinking abilities. The goal is to improve diagnosis and treatment for reading difficulties.
