Study of Levothyroxine and Liothyronine for Hypothyroidism

This study is looking for new ways to treat hypothyroidism, a common condition where your thyroid gland doesn't make enough hormones. Many people with hypothyroidism take levothyroxine, but some still experience health problems. This research will compare different ways of taking levothyroxine along with liothyronine, another thyroid hormone. You might receive levothyroxine/placebo, or levothyroxine/liothyronine either once or twice daily. The goal is to see how these treatments affect your cholesterol levels (total and LDL) over six months. To join, you must be at least 18 years old, have hypothyroidism, and be taking a specific dose of levothyroxine. You cannot participate if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have uncontrolled diabetes, or certain other health conditions.

Study design
This is a randomized, three-arm, double-blind study, meaning participants will be assigned to one of three treatment groups by chance, and neither you nor your doctors will know which treatment you are receiving. The study plans to enroll 90 participants.
