ICARE-LCS: Improving Tobacco Treatment in Lung Cancer Screening

This study, called ICARE-LCS, is looking at ways to improve how Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals help Veterans quit smoking, especially those who are getting screened for lung cancer. Lung cancer screening (LCS) helps find cancer early, and since most people getting screened have smoked, combining LCS with help to quit smoking can save many lives. This study will use a strategy called "External Facilitation" to help VA sites better offer comprehensive tobacco dependence treatment. The goal is to see if these efforts lead to more Veterans receiving combined tobacco dependence treatment. This is an observational study, meaning researchers will be watching and learning from existing practices. They plan to include 7 VA sites across the country.
