Digital Cognitive Rehabilitation for Sickle Cell Disease
This study is looking at a digital program called Cogmed+ to help children and teenagers with sickle cell disease improve their working memory. Working memory is a type of short-term memory that helps us remember and use information. Many young people with sickle cell disease can have problems with their working memory. Cogmed+ is a home-based program on a tablet that uses fun exercises to train these memory skills. This study wants to see if Cogmed+ is practical and helpful, and if participants will stick with the program. You might be able to join if you are 7 to 16 years old, have sickle cell disease, and have some challenges with your working memory. The study will measure how many participants complete the Cogmed+ training, attend a social event, and participate in memory strategy training.
- Study design
- This is a single-site pilot study that is not randomized. It plans to enroll 50 participants.
- What's involved
- You would participate in Cogmed+ training for approximately 5-8 weeks. You would also attend a Cogmed Kickoff social event and participate in memory strategy training.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- The study measures completion of Cogmed training and memory strategy training approximately 5-8 weeks after starting Cogmed. Attendance at a social event is measured within approximately 6 months of enrollment.
