Improving Safety and Patient Experience in Labor with TeamBirth

This study is evaluating a training program called TeamBirth, which aims to improve safety, patient experience, and fairness during labor and delivery. TeamBirth teaches healthcare teams how to involve patients more in decisions about their care. The study wants to see if using TeamBirth can lower the number of C-sections (cesarean births) for first-time mothers, especially Black mothers. It also aims to increase shared decision-making (when you and your care team make choices together) and improve your experience of respectful care. You may be able to participate if you are 18 or older, speak English or Spanish, and give birth to a live infant after laboring. The study plans to include 2200 participants.

Inclusion

Age 18 or older
English or Spanish speaking
Gave birth to a live-born infant after laboring

Exclusion

Speaks a language other than English or Spanish
Under the age of 18
Gave birth to a nonliving infant
Cesarean delivery without labor
Individuals who have already completed the ILPQC PREM or ILPQC PREM+ survey during the current hospital admission will be excluded
