This study is testing if Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive brain stimulation using magnetic pulses, combined with Speech-Language Therapy (SLT) can help people with mild aphasia after a stroke. Aphasia is a language disorder that can happen after a stroke. Researchers want to see if this combination treatment can improve conversational speech and understanding. They will compare real TMS to a "sham" (fake) TMS to understand its effects. You might be able to join if you are 40 to 85 years old, had a stroke in the left side of your brain more than 6 months ago, have mild aphasia (a specific score on a language test), and are proficient in English. The study aims to enroll 24 participants.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

Left Hemisphere stroke
Stroke occurred more than 6 months ago
Mild Aphasia (WAB AQ score \> 85)
Proficient in English

Exclusion

Ongoing substance or alcohol abuse
Other neurological disorders, beside stroke (i.e. dementia, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis)
Active psychiatric disorders (i.e. bipolar disorder, schizophrenia)
Pacemaker or cardiac defibrillator
Diagnosis of tinnitus
Epilepsy, or seizure in the past 6 months
