Understanding Ultra-Processed Foods and Energy Harvest

This study is looking at how eating different amounts of ultra-processed foods affects how your body uses and stores energy. Researchers will compare a diet where 80% of calories come from ultra-processed foods with a diet where only 20% of calories come from these foods. They want to understand why diets high in ultra-processed foods might lead to weight gain. You may be able to join if you are between 25 and an unspecified age, have obesity (a body mass index, or BMI, between 30-40 kg/m2), and are generally healthy. The main goal is to measure the energy content in your stool (fecal energy loss) after two weeks on each diet. The current recruitment status is unclear.

Study design
This interventional study plans to enroll 20 participants. Each participant will try both the 80% ultra-processed food diet and the 20% ultra-processed food diet.
