Dental Care for Nursing Home Residents to Improve Health
This study aims to see if providing dental infection control treatment to older adults living in nursing homes can improve their dental health, reduce their risk of pneumonia, and help diabetic patients better control their blood sugar. The dental care includes a thorough check-up (Comprehensive Oral Evaluation), X-rays (Intraoral Complete Radiographic Series), and treatments to remove plaque and hardened plaque (Periodontal Therapy and Periodontal Maintenance Procedure) that cause gum infections. Teledentistry (care delivered using technology) will also be used. Researchers will compare participants' health after one year of treatment to their health before the study. You may be able to join if you are between 60 and 100 years old, live in a nursing home, and meet certain health criteria. The study plans to enroll 150 participants.
