Circadian Rhythms in Human Adipose Tissue Study

This study aims to understand how our body's internal clocks (circadian rhythms) work in fat tissue, especially in people with obesity. Researchers want to see if these rhythms are affected by whether you eat continuously or at regular meal times. You could join if you are between 18 and 55 years old and have a healthy weight (BMI 20-25 kg/m2) or obesity (BMI 30-37 kg/m2) with a specific waist-to-hip ratio. You should not be pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications that affect fat metabolism. The study will look at the rhythmicity of specific genes (mRNA) in your fat tissue after 24 hours to see how the different feeding patterns affect them. The current recruitment status is unclear.

Study design

BMI 20-25 kg/m2 or 30-37 kg/m2
For participants with obesity a waist-to-hip ratio of ≥0.95 in males and ≥0.90 in females.

smoking
insomnia
sleep apnea
sleep medication use
employment in night or shift work
extreme chronotypes
