Fish Skin Graft (FSG) for Surgical Wound Healing

This study is looking at whether using a Fish Skin Graft (FSG) can help adults with surgical wounds heal faster and leave the hospital sooner. You might be able to join if you have a surgical wound that is at least 40 square centimeters (about 6 square inches) and needs surgery to clean it (surgical debridement). Participants will either receive the Fish Skin Graft (Kerecis) along with a wound VAC (Vacuum-Assisted Closure) or just the wound VAC. The main goal is to see if the Fish Skin Graft can shorten how long you stay in the hospital. The current status of this study is unclear, and it plans to enroll 96 participants.

Study design

Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

Has wound greater than or equal to 40cm2 requiring surgical debridement
Agreeable to follow up period of up to 1 year

Exclusion

Patients with wounds that do not require surgical debridement.
Patients with a known allergy or other sensitivity to fish material
Patients who are deemed unlikely to follow up (e.g., patients who live out of state).
Patients in police custody/incarcerated.
Patients unable to communicate in either Spanish or English.
