Mystic Pets for Emotional Distress in Children

This study is looking at a new game called Mystics Pet to help children aged 4 to 17 years old who are experiencing emotional distress. Mystics Pet uses a special headset (Oculus Quest 2) and software designed to distract children through audio and hand gestures, while still allowing them to see their surroundings. The main goal is to see if Mystics Pet is practical and easy to use for children in a hospital setting. To join, you or your child must be between 4 and 17 years old and speak English. Inclusion

Between 4-17 years
English speaking participants

Exclusion

Legal guardian not present to obtain consent
Child with hearing impairment
Child with a significant neurological condition, or major developmental disability
Child with facial abnormalities or injuries prohibiting use of headsets
Nausea at the time of recruitment,
A history of severe motion sickness,
A history of seizures
