Occupational Cancer Screening in Firefighters Study

This study is looking at different ways to screen firefighters for cancer. Firefighters have a higher risk of cancer due to their job. Researchers want to see how well whole-body MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), whole-body ultrasound, and a special blood test called MCD Assay work to find early signs of cancer. The MCD Assay is an investigational test, meaning it's not yet approved by the FDA. Whole-body MRI and ultrasound are FDA-approved for diagnosing some cancers when other signs of disease are present. This study aims to enroll 800 firefighters, aged 35 to 85, who have worked as a firefighter for at least 10 years and are currently active. The main goal is to see how many pre-cancers and cancers each screening method finds within about a year.

Study design
This interventional study plans to enroll 800 participants. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two whole-body imaging screening groups.
What's involved
Not specified in the trial record.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Participants will be followed for up to 1 year (plus or minus 2 months) to see how many pre-cancers and cancers are detected.
