The goal is to see if early treatment with clozapine works better than standard treatments like aripiprazole or risperidone for people who have specific genetic factors. These factors suggest they might not respond well to standard treatments, but also aren't at high risk for certain side effects from clozapine, such as a severe drop in white blood cells (agranulocytosis) or significant weight gain. The main way we'll know if a treatment is successful is by measuring changes in symptoms using a scale called BPRS after 12 weeks. The study is currently recruiting participants.
