Non-Narcotic Pain Control After ACL Reconstruction
This study is looking at different ways to manage pain after surgery to repair a torn ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament, a major knee ligament). It compares two pain medications: ketorolac (a non-narcotic pain reliever) and oxycodone (a narcotic pain reliever). The goal is to see if ketorolac can reduce the number of narcotic pain pills people need after surgery, or even help them avoid narcotics completely. You might be able to join if you are between 15 and 55 years old, having your first ACL surgery using your own tissue, and can take oral medications. The study will measure how many narcotic doses are taken over the first 30 days.
- Study design
- This is a double-blind, randomized study with two groups, involving about 30 participants. Neither you nor your doctors will know which treatment you are receiving.
- What's involved
- You will need to take oral medication and participate in virtual follow-up calls at 1 and 2 weeks to count your pills.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- The primary outcome will be measured at 30 days after surgery.
