Mindfulness Smoking Cessation for Northern Plains Tribal Women

This study, called "Healing Within," is testing a special program to help Northern Plains Tribal women who have experienced intimate partner violence (IPV) stop smoking. The program is an eight-week, in-person group session that uses mindfulness techniques and is designed with Lakota values and trauma-informed care in mind. We are looking for women aged 18 or older who smoke at least 5 cigarettes a day and have experienced physical or psychological IPV. The main goals are to see if the program is practical to offer (feasibility), if participants like it (acceptability), and if they are happy with it (satisfaction). The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and plans to enroll 48 participants.
