Ultrasound-Guided Core Needle Biopsy for Bladder Cancer Staging
This study is looking at a new way to stage (determine the extent of) urothelial carcinoma of the bladder (UCB), a type of bladder cancer. Researchers want to see how well an ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy works compared to the final surgical results. This biopsy uses ultrasound imaging to guide a needle to take a small tissue sample. You might be able to join if you are 18 or older, are having surgery to remove your bladder for confirmed or suspected UCB, and have had prior abdominal imaging. You cannot join if you've had certain bladder surgeries in the past. The study will be considered successful if the biopsy results match the surgical results closely. The current recruitment status for this study is unclear.
- Study design
- This is an observational study, meaning participants will not receive an experimental treatment. It aims to include about 100 participants.
- What's involved
- Not specified in the trial record.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- The primary endpoint is measured at baseline, after bladder surgery is completed.

What this trial measures
- Concordance between US and core needle biopsy stage and final surgical specimen pathologic stageBaseline (after completion of bladder surgery)
The radiology-assessed tumor stage from the ultrasound (US) and the core needle biopsy-assessed tumor stage will be compared with the final pathologic tumor stage.
