EMD is an FDA-approved medical device that has been used in gum procedures since 1996 to help with healing and tissue growth. Researchers want to see if applying EMD during the second stage of implant uncovering (when the implant is exposed) will lead to thicker gum tissue around the implant. They will measure gum thickness and the width of the attached gum tissue at one and three months after the procedure.
