Patient Perception of Physician Communication and Professionalism

This study wants to understand how cancer patients view their doctor's compassion, communication skills, and professionalism. We are looking at whether a doctor using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) during a visit changes how patients perceive them. If you join, you will watch four short videos, each 4 minutes long, and then complete three questionnaires about your emotions and your trust in doctors. We are looking for 88 participants who are at least 18 years old, have a cancer diagnosis (early or advanced), are seen in a Supportive Care Clinic, and can read, write, and speak English. The study aims to see if patients perceive doctors differently based on how they use the EHR. The current recruitment status is unclear.

This is an interventional, randomized controlled trial planning to enroll 88 participants. It compares patient perceptions after watching videos of doctors with and without EHR use.
