Comparing Irrigating vs. Traditional Negative Pressure Wound Therapy for Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections
This study is looking at two ways to treat serious skin infections called Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections (NSTIs). These infections require surgery to remove infected tissue. The study compares standard Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), which uses a vacuum to help wounds heal, with Negative Pressure Wound Therapy with Instillation (NPWTi). NPWTi also uses a vacuum but adds hypochlorous acid (a medical-grade dilute bleach) to clean the wound. We want to see if one method leads to fewer unplanned hospital readmissions within 30 days and better healing rates. You might be able to join if you are 18 or older, have a suspected NSTI needing surgery, and are planned to receive a negative pressure wound dressing.
