Prophylactic Levetiracetam for Brain Metastases in the Motor Cortex
This study is for adults with brain metastases (cancer that has spread to the brain) in the primary motor cortex, an area of the brain that controls movement. These patients are at high risk for seizures. The study is testing whether taking the anti-seizure medication Levetiracetam (also known as Keppra) can prevent seizures in patients who haven't had them yet. You would be randomly assigned to either receive Levetiracetam or not receive it, which is the current standard of care. The main goal is to see if Levetiracetam reduces the number of seizures over about one year. To join, you must be at least 18 years old, have a solid tumor that has spread to the brain's motor cortex, and have a good performance status (Karnofsky performance status of at least 60).
