Narrative Medicine for Healthcare Professional Burnout

This study is looking at whether Narrative Medicine Workshops can help reduce burnout and stress in healthcare professionals. Burnout is a type of long-term stress from work that can make you feel exhausted and less fulfilled. The study will involve 60 healthcare professionals who are faculty at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in internal medicine, surgery, or pediatrics. Participants will attend 3 to 6 monthly Narrative Medicine Workshops. Researchers will measure changes in burnout levels using a survey called the Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS) after six months to see if the workshops are successful. The study's current status is unclear.

  • Change in Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS)Month 6

Maslach Burnout Inventory - Human Services Survey, is a questionnaire used to assess burnout among professionals in human service fields. It measures three core dimensions of burnout: Emotional Exhaustion (EE), Depersonalization (DP), and Personal Accomplishment (PA). Each dimension is scored based on the responses to a series of questions, using a 7-point scale (0-6) where higher scores generally indicate higher levels of burnout.
