Observational Study of Phosphorylated Tau Levels in Donated Blood

This observational study is looking at donated human blood plasma samples to understand the levels of a specific protein called phosphorylated tau-217 (pTau217). High levels of pTau217 are linked to Alzheimer's disease (AD). Researchers want to see if some donated blood units have unusually high pTau217 concentrations. The main goal is to find out how common elevated pTau217 levels are in donated blood. This information will help determine if transfusing blood with higher pTau217 might be risky for recipients and if such blood should be avoided in medical use. This study is not testing any new treatments; it's simply analyzing existing blood samples. About 250 plasma samples will be included.

Study design
This is an observational, cross-sectional study analyzing about 250 donated human blood plasma samples, including some from people with Alzheimer's disease and normal controls.
