Motivation for Daily Living Skills in Autistic Young Adults

This study is for autistic young adults, aged 16 to 25, who want to improve their daily living skills. It explores three different ways to boost motivation: Intrinsic Motivation Treatment, Extrinsic Motivation Treatment, or a combination of both. These treatments use behavioral approaches, like Motivational Interviewing, to help you find your personal reasons for making changes or to set up reward systems. The main goal is to see if these treatments can improve your motivation to complete daily living skills, help you do skills you want to do more often, and make you feel more empowered. We are looking for 180 participants, and the study's current status is unclear.

The primary outcome measure for this study is the individual's motivation to change and improve upon their daily living skill. Motivation will be measured through 4 separate questions that ask about one's desire, ability, need, and commitment to change. All 4 questions will use the same scale, which ranges from 1 - 10. A total score will be used as the measure. This total score will be calculated by adding the score from each individual question. A higher score indicates a greater level of motivation.
