Treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder with rTMS

This study is testing if Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate brain cells, can help improve symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Researchers will measure changes in your BPD symptoms using questionnaires like the Borderline Symptom List 23 (BSL-23) and the Clinical Global Impression for Borderline Personality Disorder (CGI-BPD), and also look at how well you regulate emotions. You may be able to join if you are 18-65 years old, have a BPD diagnosis, and speak English fluently. The study plans to enroll up to 30 participants, but its current status is unclear.

Study design
This is a blinded, randomized study enrolling up to 30 participants. You will be randomly assigned to receive either active or sham (inactive) brain stimulation.
What's involved
You will have up to 2 MRI scans, 2 brain wave recording sessions, and up to 30 brain stimulation treatments. You will also complete symptom assessments and computer tasks over a minimum of 17 in-person visits across 2.5 months.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Your symptoms will be assessed at the beginning of the study (Day 1) and after treatment (Day 17).
