Study on How Influenza Spreads

This research study aims to understand how the influenza virus spreads from person to person. You would participate as a healthy volunteer, called a "Recipient," and be exposed to people who naturally have the flu (Donors) in a controlled setting. The study is looking for healthy adults between 18 and 49 years old. To see if the flu is transmitted, researchers will check for the virus using PCR, genetic sequencing, and cell cultures about one month after exposure. The current recruitment status is unclear, and the study plans to enroll 80 participants.

Study design
This is an interventional study involving 80 healthy volunteers. Participants are exposed to individuals with naturally acquired influenza in a controlled environment.
What's involved
You would undergo a 14-day home semi-quarantine, daily assessments and clinic visits, and spend weekday evenings (around 6-10 pm) for about 14 days in a controlled environment with provided dinner. There will also be three blood draws.
