HIV Prevention and Substance Use Treatment for People Who Use Drugs

This study is testing a new approach called LINKED to help people who inject drugs prevent HIV and get treatment for substance use. LINKED uses social networks to share information and encourage the use of PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis, a medicine to prevent HIV) and MOUD (medications for opioid use disorder). Another group will receive a group intervention focusing on HIV and overdose risks. The study aims to see how many participants start using PrEP and MOUD at 6 and 12 months. You might be able to join if you are 18 or older, live in the Los Angeles area, can complete surveys in English, and have injected drugs in the past 3 months. The study is currently unclear about its recruitment status and plans to enroll 398 people.
