Validation of NAD+ Measurements for Healthy Adults

This study is looking at how levels of Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) change in healthy adults after taking an over-the-counter supplement called Nicotinamide Riboside (NR). Researchers want to see if they can accurately measure NAD levels in the brain and calf using a special MRI scan. You might be able to join if you are a healthy adult between 18-35 years old or 70 years or older. You cannot have certain conditions like diabetes requiring insulin, or take specific medications like niacin or blood thinners. The study will be considered successful if researchers can show a clear link between NAD levels in the blood and in tissues. The current recruitment status is unclear.

Study design
This is an open-label study, meaning you and the researchers will know what treatment you are receiving. It is not randomized, and plans to enroll 48 healthy adults.
What's involved
You would take 1000 mcg of Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) orally every day for 30 days. You will have blood, serum, and urine collected, and MRI scans of your brain and calf before starting the supplement and again after 4 weeks.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Your NAD levels will be measured before supplementation and again after 4 weeks of taking the supplement.
