Imaging for Parathyroid Tumors with 18F-Fluorocholine PET/MR and NeuroEXPLORER PET/CT

This study is looking at new ways to find parathyroid tumors before surgery. Parathyroid glands are small glands in your neck that can sometimes grow too large or develop tumors, requiring surgery. Researchers are testing if a special imaging scan called PET/MRI and a new PET/CT machine called NeuroEXPLORER, used with a tracer called 18F-FCH, can more accurately locate these tumors. The main goal is to see how well these imaging methods can pinpoint the tumors in people with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT), a condition where the parathyroid glands make too much hormone. You may be able to join if you are between 18 and 100 years old and are scheduled for parathyroid surgery at the NIH Clinical Center. The study status is currently unclear.
