Virtual Reality Headsets and Seizure Risk in Epilepsy

This study is looking at whether using virtual reality (VR) headsets might increase the risk of seizures in teenagers and adults with epilepsy. Researchers want to see if VR headsets, especially those with hand controls, affect brain activity. You would wear a VR headset while your brain activity is recorded with an EEG (electroencephalogram), which measures electrical activity in your brain. This will happen in three short sessions: once with the VR display off, once with the display on but no hand controls, and once with the display on and hand controls. The study is looking for changes in brain activity that could suggest a higher seizure risk. You can join if you are 13 years or older, have a known or suspected epilepsy diagnosis, and have shown abnormal brain activity (interictal epileptiform discharges) on a past EEG.

Age greater than or equal to 13 years
