Memantine and Raloxifene for Cognitive Preservation After Brain Radiation

This study is looking at whether combining two medications, memantine and raloxifene, can help prevent memory problems in people receiving radiation therapy for brain cancer. Radiation to the brain can sometimes cause cognitive (thinking and memory) issues. Researchers want to see if adding raloxifene to memantine, which is already used to protect brain cells, can further reduce these side effects. The study will measure changes in the size of the hippocampus (a part of the brain important for memory) over 48 weeks. Anyone aged 18 or older who is having radiation for brain cancer and meets other health criteria may be able to join. The study is currently recruiting 108 participants.

Study design
This interventional study plans to enroll 108 participants. It is testing memantine, alone or with raloxifene, to see if it can protect brain function after radiation.
What's involved

Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
Participants will be followed for changes in hippocampal volume from the start of the study up to 48 weeks.
