Observational Study of Pulmonary Vascular Disease in Valvular Heart Disease

This observational study aims to understand how pulmonary vascular disease (PVD), a condition affecting blood vessels in the lungs, impacts people with valvular heart disease (problems with heart valves). Researchers will use an echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart) during your scheduled right heart catheterization to look at your heart and lung blood vessels. The study will follow participants for 12 months to see if tricuspid regurgitation (TR, a leaky heart valve) lessens and if right ventricular (lower right heart chamber) function improves. This study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and plans to enroll about 600 people. You may be able to join if you are 18 or older and are scheduled for a valve procedure.

≥18 years old; AND
Scheduled for valve procedures

Exclusion

Congenital heart disease (except for bicuspid aortic valve), OR
Carcinoid heart disease, OR
Valvular mass, OR
Endocarditis, OR
Any other condition that, in the opinion of the investigator, would impair their ability to complete the study
