Caring for Caregivers of Individuals With Alzheimer's Disease
This study, called the EMBRACE Study, is looking at whether a home-based virtual exercise program can help reduce depression and anxiety in family caregivers of people living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). Caring for a loved one with ADRD can be very demanding and often leads to feelings of depression and anxiety. Regular exercise is known to help with these feelings, but caregivers often find it hard to leave home to exercise. This study aims to see if a virtual exercise program can overcome these challenges. We are looking for approximately 25 African American caregivers, aged 18 or older, who are the primary unpaid caregiver for an adult with ADRD, can read and speak English, are healthy enough for exercise, and have email access. The main goal is to measure physical activity at 6 months.
