Music for Pain and Anxiety During Nail Biopsies

This study is exploring if listening to a standardized playlist of instrumental, classical, and relaxing music can help reduce pain and anxiety during a nail biopsy. If you are at least 18 years old, scheduled for a nail biopsy at the Weill Cornell Medicine dermatology clinic, and can understand English, you might be able to join. Participants will either listen to music during their procedure or receive standard care. The main goal is to see if music can lower your pain intensity right after the biopsy, as measured by a Visual Analog Scale. The study is currently unclear on its recruitment status and plans to enroll 30 people.

Male or female ≥18 years of age
Scheduled to undergo nail biopsy at the Weill Cornell Medicine dermatology clinic
Able to provide informed consent
Able to read and understand English

Exclusion

Significant hearing impairment that would prevent ability to hear the music intervention
Cognitive impairment that would prevent completion of study questionnaires
Unable or unwilling to provide informed consent
