Emerging Technologies and Teen Mental Health Study
This study is looking for teens aged 12 to 17 who are experiencing suicidal thoughts that don't require immediate, intensive care. The study will test a brief educational program called the Prosociality and Agency in Algorithmic Spaces (PAAS) Module. This program teaches young people about how online algorithms work and encourages them to use social media in positive ways. Researchers want to see if this program can help reduce feelings of social disconnection and perceived burdensomeness (feeling like a burden to others). To join, you need to be between 12 and 17, have some suicidal thoughts, use social media, and speak English. Your parent also needs to speak English or Spanish. The study is currently recruiting 200 participants.
