The Black Immigrant Project: Supporting Dementia Care Partners

This study, called The Black Immigrant Project, is testing an intervention called Active Caregiving: Enhancing Skills (ACES). ACES was created with Black immigrant dementia care partners and uses principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (a type of talk therapy) to help people understand how their thoughts affect their feelings and actions. The study aims to see if ACES can help Black immigrant caregivers of people with dementia by improving their self-confidence and reducing unhelpful thoughts, and by encouraging positive behaviors. We'll measure if the intervention helps reduce depression and caregiver burden over several months. You may be able to join if you are a Black immigrant, aged 18 or older, can communicate in English, and are a care partner for someone 50 or older who has dementia or memory loss.
