Pilot Study of Bone Mineral Density Changes During Anti-PD-1 Immunotherapy
This study is looking at how anti-PD-1 immunotherapy, a type of cancer treatment, might affect your bone mineral density (bone strength). We know that these treatments, while very helpful for many cancers, can sometimes cause side effects in different parts of the body. This study will use special scans called DXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) and HRpQCT (High Resolution peripheral Quantitative Computed Tomography) to measure your bone density. You could be eligible if you are 18 or older and are starting or have recently started anti-PD-1 immunotherapy for certain cancers, including Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Kidney Cancer, Melanoma, Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, or MSI-H/dMMR Rectal Cancer. The main goal is to see how much your bone density changes after 12 months of immunotherapy. The current status of this study is unclear, and it plans to enroll 25 participants.
